Our church family gathers every Sunday at 9:30 for worship, and guests are always welcome. Actually, the worship experience begins the moment you pull into our parking lot. Immediately, we seek to greet one another, interact to become better acquainted, and engage each other in meaningful conversation. Our spacious foyer provides comfortable room for gathering before and after service, and our welcome center there serves to orient guests to our worship facility and community.
Separate nurseries are available all morning for children up to age 2 and for those ages 3 to 4. Older children are encouraged to attend the first part of the worship service with their parents. Children up to 6th grade are dismissed from the adult service around 9:50 for Junior Church, where they will enjoy a message more appropriate for and applicable to their ages.
Our musically blended worship service opens with a contemporary prelude around 9:20. These songs are led by the RBC Worship Team, which features keyboards, acoustic, electric, and bass guitars, drums, vocalists, and occasionally other instruments. We believe it is appropriate to follow in the pattern of the psalmists and praise God with a variety of uplifting sounds (Psalm 150). Around 9:30 we sing our monthly theme song, a special chorus that many in our congregation eventually find to be both meaningful and memorable. Our choir usually follows this with a special routine of their own. Then, after updates on our family life and missionaries, with prayer for both, we continue our celebration with two or three more contemporary songs. Following this, we usually worship through giving and a special music performance. The musical portion of our worship concludes with a few traditional hymns, led by our singers and a piano or organ. Our commitment to a blend of music allows for people of multiple generations to engage in their preferred musical style and also appreciate worshipping alongside those of other preferences.
A Living Parable drama serves to prepare our hearts for the message. Then, Pastor Jennings or another gifted speaker delivers a challenge from God's word. The messages are always designed to be both biblical and relevant. Most often, in seeking to keep it biblical, the message is expository, meaning that Pastor teaches through a portion of Scripture verse-by-verse. We believe that when we teach God's word in this way we are then best able to make the dynamic applications to our lives that God intends. For, we are committed to demonstrating that God's ancient truth is absolutely relevant and necessary for real, modern life. We pray and trust that all those involved in our worship service will leave each week with practical ways to grow in their relationships with Jesus and one another.
Following our service, which ends around 10:45, we gather in our Family Life Center for refreshments and fellowship. All are invited to enjoy a quick snack before joining one of our Discipleship Hour electives.
